Ophthalmology & Optometry/Sinusitis & headache

Dear Sir,
My wife underwent surgery for NAGlaucoma & susequently cataracts in BEs.
Her IOP in RE remains 5/6mm Hg.due to overfiltration.IOP & Bleb condition are checked periodically since last 10 years. After Autologus blood injection,in May-2012, the frequent watering, pain & infection have practically resloved.
She has sinus on Right side, this creates trouble of headache & watering.
Physician/ENT expert gives tablets, which is of temparory relief.
She has been advised to instil Saline Nasal drops, resulting into draining of water. But it recurs & causes discomfort.
She also develops seasonal allergy-combated using Allegra 125mg.
Her eyes are quite sensitive to drugs.
IOP in LE is controlled at 14/16mmHg.instilling Travatan once at night.
From above could you, please advise any other option,to reslove frequent recurrence.
Opthalmologist,at times prescribed Vigamox & Flarex,for a week.
Would you anticipate to leave with issue,as her vision is sustain at 69 & she might lose present vision on ageing.
Your advise will be of great moral boost.
Thanking you.
with warm regards,

I am sorry to hear your wife has been having these problems.
It sounds like she is in good care.
My primary concern would be keeping the eye pressure under control - and it sounds like the doctor is doing a good job with it.
I don't think that the most recent problem (which they prescribed vigamox & flarex) will cause any lingering or long-term problems.  I would urge you to return for a follow up if the problem doesn't improve over the first week or so.
Good Luck!

As a residency-trained Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry I am able to answer most questions regarding eye and vision health. Anything is welcome, ranging from dry or allergy eyes, bifocal contact lenses, or thoughts on LASIK surgery. As I am not a surgeon, detail-oriented surgical-related questions may be better answered by an ophthalmologist.

Selected to participate in the PCO residency program in Philadelphia at The Eye Institute, where I worked OD and MD specialists gaining invaluable experience in various clinics including glaucoma, cornea and cataract, oculo-plastics, retinal disease, neuro-ophthalmic disease, primary care, emergency medicine, and special populations. Have practiced and trained in numerous settings including hospital, academic, retail and private practice. I earned my Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). There are currently only about 3000 active fellows worldwide, and there are only about 70 Fellows in the state of Virginia. I currently own and operate my own optometric practice/clinic.
