Question Hi, I was recently diagnosed with episcleritis and I was wondering is it ok to wear contacts during episcleritis flare up and should I be worried if the flare up is longer than 3 weeks ? This is my first time having episcleritis.
Answer You should probably avoid contact lenses till the episcleritis settles down. Although it may not have a direct effect, it is generally better to allow the inflammation to settle down before starting to use contact lenses.
Episcleritis may take several weeks to settle down. Persistent or recurrent episcleritis requires a physical screening to identify presence of any systemic disease.
