Ophthalmology & Optometry/eye red spots...

Question
Hi,
On occasion, specifically in the AM, my left eye has a red spot or portion for a little while then goes away. I take blood pressure meds also. Is it related? Is the redness a sign of excelerated blood pressure because I've read that bp can affect eye health? Thank you.

Answer
Dear Mike,

Yes, the red spots could be due to fluctuations in the blood pressure, it is not because of the medicines of the blood pressure, but due to the blood pressure itself, which of course you will have to check and monitor to be in normal range.
Also, another reason is if you rub your eyes, eg against the pillow if you sleep on the specific side you mentioned.

Rule out both these factors first.
You can let me know your follow up.

Hope this helps,
Warm regards,
