Answer
Hi Subha

It seems to me that there is some issue with the installation.  Since you are unable to remove Oracle installation using Universal Installer, you will have to remove them manually.

Here is what you need to do
1. delete all the Oracle entries from the registry
2. delete the entire Oracle directory
3. Remove all the Oracle environment variables and path

This should allow you to reinstall the Oracle.

Have you considered installation 9i or 10g or even 11g?  8i is really old and has been desupported for many years.  In addition, 8i is not certified to run under XP.

Issue (3) is caused by Issue (1).

Oracle writes all the background information to a file called alert.log.  You can find this file in the bdump directory.

With regarding to Issue (4), I apologized that I have not seen this one, it seems that it is related to your server specifically.

Hope this help and hope you are able to uninstall the software.

Let me know if you shall need additional help.

Elliot
