Question
Hi Elliot,

Could you please explain me. What is the difference between AFFIRM/NOAFFIRM? and What is StaticConnectIdentifier property used for? in data guard

Regards,
Seshu

Answer
Hi Seshu

Here is the official explanation from Oracle, and it is pretty much say it all.

AFFIRM—specifies that a redo transport destination acknowledges received redo data after writing it to the standby redo log.

NOAFFIRM—specifies that a redo transport destination acknowledges received redo data before writing it to the standby redo log.

With regarding to StaticConnectIdentifier, it is a property that let the system know the tns entry to be used at startup time.

Hope it helps.
