Question
Hi Elliot,

Could you please explain me. How can we recover standby which far behind from primary (or) without archive logs how can we make standby sync?

Regards,
Kumar

Answer
Good day Kumar

All you need to do is the apply those log using your backup.  Here are the steps

- Stop the log transport on the primary
- Stop the log apply on standby
- Determine the last SCN on the standby database.  (current_scn on v$database)
- Take an incremental backup of the primary database from the SCN above
- Copy and register the rman backup to the standby, and recover it (ensure to use the "noredo" when recover the database)
- Recreate the standby database controlfile
- Restart the log transport on the primary and restart log apply on standby

You can get a more detail step by step instruction from Oracle Documentation
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28294/rman.htm#CIHIAADC

Hope it helps
