About Ryan Smart
(Top Expert on this page)

Expertise
I can answer most questions about dental implants, wisdom tooth extractions, and dento-alveolar surgery (surgery of the teeth, gums and bone that supports the teeth). In addition, I can answer basic questions regarding corrective jaw surgery as well as trauma/reconstructive surgery and disorders of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). I cannot diagnose conditions via the internet nor can I give personalized advice about particular conditions since this would require a physical exam as well as other diagnostic studies.

Experience
I am a resident in an accredited training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Boston, MA. I am currently in my second year of training. I am not yet board certified as I am still in training.

Organizations
American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Academy of Oral Medicine, Massachusetts Medical Society, American Medical Association Student Member, Massachusetts Dental Society

Publications
Massachusetts Dental Society Journal

Education/Credentials
I have a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) and have completed a full year of internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
