Question My husband is 44 and going to have four wisdom teeth pulled in a couple days. What should I have on hand as far as foods and keeping him comfortable. We are both a bit nervous.
Answer Fern - You will need salt, because he will begin warm salt water rinses within 48 hours after the extractions. He should have soft foods that do not require too much chewing, i.e. tuna salad, eggs and egg omelet and other foods that do not cause excess chewing. The important thing is to rinse with the warm salt water to remove any debris in the healing areas.
As long as he will be seeing a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon everything will go well and the surgeon will go over all your postoperative instructions. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me again.
