Question My husband has a mass as described right on the roof of his mouth just behind his top front teeth. It has appeared before and been treated with anitbiotics but our dentist has said that this was most likely a ganglion. It causes a lot of pressure and is quite painful. Of course, when it inflames he can never get in to see the dentist and when it is not active it can not be treated. What do you think this is and how should he proceed.
Regards
Donna
Answer Donna - First of all, a general dentist should not treat this situation. You should make an appointment for him with a local board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Whether it is swollen or painful, the area can be opened and biopsied and cleaned.
So contact a local board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. I wish him well and hope his uncomfortable symptoms can be relieved.
