Question
I have a new shoot growing on the side of the main stalk and it is giving out an orange sticky substance, what is this has i have never seen it before.

Answer
Silvana, the sticky substance to which you refer is, undoubtedly, plant sap.  It contains nutrients for plant growth and development and is sticky becuase it contains some sugars. Uusually, plant sap is clear and not colored.  It is possible that the color comes from plant pigments.  It might help to find out what type of an orchid you have. If you know, or could send a picture, that might shed more light on this mystery.   Thanks.
