Orchids/unkown things on tree trunk

unkown insect on tree
Hi Wayne King,

I have a problem on unknown insect on tree trunk which I grow my phalaenopsis.

I've attached the photo.

Can you tell me what are they & how to get rid of them?

It's a little difficult to tell from your picture.  My best guess is that these are mealy bugs. I would try Safer's insecticidal soap.  Best use is a dunk the entire mount into the soap.  If the tree trunk is attached to the tree, you will need to spray it heavily.  It may take several applications.  IF this Is ineffective you will need to use malathion.
