Question Am thinking of relocating to Bend. Any suggestions where I can get info on the area?Would need weather tables, air quality info, school info, crime stats etc. Have only been to once, but liked the area. What are your thoughts? Any other areas of Oregon you can recommend as family friendly? Thanks.
Answer Mark,
Altho Bend isn't the sweet sleepy little town it once was, it's still a nice place. Growth in the last 5 years has been terrific though, consider Redmond if small is better.
Easiest way to check on stats is to do a Google search.
The air is generally good save for wood smoke inversions during winter, typical desert climate, hot and cold.Decent schools, colleges, arts.Crime is crime, not as bad as larger areas.
Other family towns? As in smaller? Towns around Portland, Newberg, McMinnville, middle Oregon, Redmond, Bend, Prineville, eastern Oregon,Baker City,Haines,LaGrande, Enterprise, Wallowa, near the Columbia , The Dalles, Hood River....the state is full of them.
Spend a day looking on web. Go to chamber of commerce sites. and compare notes, then you'll have to come out and do a major week drive to see them all.
Oregon is full of small towns w/small town values still. But, real life invades all of them eventually.
