About Joan Mershon Expertise I can answer questions about visiting or relocating to western Oregon including: Portland, the coast, and the I-5 corridor down to the California border. I am not familiar with eastern or central Oregon, but would not mind looking up information for those areas.
Experience Experience in the area:
I have lived in the Portland area for over 20 years. Many of my friends claim I should work for the Travel & Tourism Bureau because of my love for the Northwest, and my knowledge of things to do and see.

Question We will be in Eugene for the PNGA (golf) Championship from Sat. July 7th to at least Tuesday the 10th and possibly till Saturday the 14th (depending on how the golf game holds up). We were tossing around ideas for lodging. We are booked in to the Red Lion for $69/night and are hoping we could find something for less or at least something reasonable with kitchen facilities. "We" are 4 or 5 adults.
Answer Hello Peg.
I did some checking and it seems that almost all the hotels are already booked for that time period. Even if they were not, it would be hard to find a better deal - especially when there is a need for a kitchen.
I even looked for a hostel - but the only one in Eugene is for youth. Even that is $12/night, and no cooking facilities (your hotel works out to $17/night). Bed & breakfasts abound in Eugene, but since they start at over $125/night, they are far more expensive than what you currently have.
Good luck in the tournament - and enjoy your stay - Joan
