Question Yes, my friend and I are going to Sun River to stay for about 5 days at the end of the month. We are both painters and love the out doors. Are there any especially scenic places in or around that area that would be great motivation to create some master pieces? Water is always good or fabulous fields of flowers, etc. Any log cabins or great views.
Also, are there any must do activities that we will be disappointed if we don't hear about them?
Any day hikes (moderate level) that are fabulous?
Perhaps up to an alpine lake.
Just thought you might be able to give me some insight. I've only been there to ski in the winter so have no idea what is cool and fun to do in the summer.
If you have any tips on great places to eat ( I'm talking GOOD food ) that would be greatly apreciated.
Lastly, is there any place really fun to go dance or hear some great live music.
Boy, I guess we want it all. Any help at all would be greatly apreciated. Thanks so much. Debi
Answer Debi,
So much to see and paint....where to start?
Firstly try out the following web sites.....
www.visitbend.org and www.covisitors.com
these will tell of any festivals ect. happening in the near future.
From Sunriver DO take a drive on Century Drive...lots of small peaceful lakes to see and paint and enjoy.A short trail leads from parking up to Todd Lake...I find it particularliy scenic. All the lakes are lovely.Mt.Bachelor runs their lift in the summer to sightsee...The Newberry Crater is another nice area....you might still catch some flowers.Do go all the way up to East lake.Quite pretty(Fee area though)
If you drive a short ways into Sisters, take a trip over to the headwaters of the Metolius River and Camp Sherman.Hang out in Sisters,(trendy little artish spot)then drive back via hwy.20 and stop at Benham and Dillon Falss.(these are both off Century Drive also)(Map should be available at Sunriver)
Food? For good formal dining...Broken Top Resort..live jazz on Thursday.Marz/Deshutes River Brewery/Pine tavern all in downtown Bend on the more laid back side. Not sure on the music.Ask at Sunriver.
Have a wonderful time....remember,it still gets rather chilly....
