Question
my  donar  is  a match  but  was told my  hospital  would not allow  transplant  because they passeda kidney  stone in january  VERY  SMALL)  NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE IS THAT  THE RULE  AT ALL UNITS

Answer
Kidney stones can cause kidney failure. I have several people in my unit whose kidneys failed due to kidney stones.
The reason why doctors say this, they want to make sure both kidneys are healthy to not compromise you or your donor. In transplant work ups, everything is looked at - heart, lungs, kidneys, bladder, liver, etc. I am afriad this is a deal-breaker for transplant centers.

I am so sorry.

Do you have another possible match? How long have you been on the list? What state? And remember - a kidney could come at any time. Don't lose hope.

If you're really uncertain, call them and ask them exactly why, and if you know any centers that may transplant him. However, this is a risk factor.

Again, I am so sorry.

Leslie
