Question
I have started my first tomato, cucumber, and squash seedlings in peat moss filled with store bought potting mix. After 3 weeks the plants were looking great receiving ample light, heat and moisture. As I am anticipating until the freeze warnings subside, my plants recently started to wilt and droop while getting lighter in color. I am puzzled and left wondering what I am doing wrong here. Please help. Thanks!

Answer
The lighter color means they need nitrogen. I would use fish fertilizer. Let them dry a little before watering, they may be too wet.  Or too dry.  The soil should be moist but not soggy wet.  They will need a lot of heat, if they can be brought inside at night they will be happier.

Expertise

We will research and answer all questions about organic gardening, soil building, square foot gardening, composting, mulching, planting techniques, sustainable gardening, sustainability, garden design, and how to create a simple reflection pool to attract birds and wildlife. Over the years we have learned that plants respond to the garden's aesthetics, soil conditions, and the attitude of the gardener. The healthier the soil and soul, the healthier the plants become, and are therefore more able to resist insect attacks.
