Expert: Jan Hayner - 6/3/2008

Question
We have just found out that we are expecting another child.  We have a 2 bedroom condo with a sun room.  My 2 year old son has bedroom and we need to convert our sun room into the 2nd.  But there's a problem, there isn't a closet in there. I have been researching options and we cant afford an armiore, but i cant seem to find canvas closets in the U.S.A and other countries don't export here. What can I do???

Answer
Hi Kallie;
No Closet, YIKES!! Sounds bad, but there is a few solutions that you might like.

Since it is a new baby, a closet isn't a major necessity to begin with, but one of those things that may come in handy.

Invest in a canvas storage closet from WalMart (no I don't have stock in the company) but this is a good quality one for the price.
It is at:http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?bti=2&cat=132948&catNavId=90828&fromPageCatId=90828

You can unzip it and make a curtain to go across the front of it in material to match the decor of the room. I use sheets for the curtains, matching curtain on the storage closet, a pillow and anything else I can think of. Sometimes you can find nice material in the stores, but I like the quality of the sheet material and it serves the purpose. These are all straight cut pieces and if you don't know how to sew or don't own a machine, just use iron on tape to make the seems, it holds like steel and won't come apart!

There is another style by Rubbermaid that is a little higher in price but would look good athttp://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=132948&fromPageCatId=90828&catNavId=90828

My family has used this system at different times in their lives and it works great. We have moved one of them out into the garage and added curtains with a hunting theme, for my husbands hunting clothes. The ideas for these are endless and will be used in various ways for years and years.

I hope the idea helped!
Good Luck and have a good pregnancy!
