Orthodox Judaism/Sun around Earth

Question
Does the Torah say the Sun revolves around the Earth?

Answer
Norman,
The Torah does not say that the sun revolves around the earth. The two words are used together only 9 times in the Hebrew Scriptures, most outside the Torah.

David seems to imply this understanding in:

PS 19:6  His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

However, remember that the Psalms are prayers not revelation. Since we believed the same until less than 500 years ago, I guess we can cut the Psalmist a break.

Hope this helps! Shalom!
