Orthodox Judaism - predestination

Expert: Rav Ovadiah - 1/21/2006

Question
Do those of your religion believe in predestination and that David was born in sin?

Answer
Avis,
No, we as Jews, do not believe in predestination but rather in man's free will to chose his own path through life and toward God.
None of us are "born in sin" if you mean this in the sense of Original Sin. The iniquities of our fathers sometimes impacts us, but their sin is not our own. If I'm not understanding your question correctly, please re-phrase and I'll see if I can do better.
Hope this helps! Shalom!
