Subject: Knee injury
Question I was reaching across a bed a couple of nights ago, and I was standing to where my knee was in the rook of the mattress (it's a spring mattress) so when I reached across my knee went as far as the top of it and stopped and the top of my leg kept going. It immediately swelled up, there was bruising the next day (still is), and it hurts to take a step or pain just shoots across my knee cap whenever. The pain is interior and posterior though and it even goes down to the top of this shin a bit. I put ice packs on it that night, then rotated out warm and cold packs, kept it elevated, and when I walk, using a brace. I've been instructed to wait to go to the doctor for a week or two though.
Answer Yes you can try what you are doing ..don't wear the brace too much for fear of clots..if you are female and esp if you smoke and are over 35,and take BCP's. I wouldn't think there could be anything major wrong with knee, other than a sprain based on how you described incident.
