Question Hi Sharon,
In 1994, when I was 17, I was involved in an auto accident and the surgeons put two bolts into my hip. One on either side, fuseing my sacroiliac joint. This was done, I imagine, to stabalize me at that time.
Now there is a great deal of pain and discomfort in my back. I feel I've tried everything. I want the pins removed.
Do you have any information on the viability of having these pins removed to restore my original good health?
Can you recommend a good surgeon in Seattle willing to take a job like this?
I have good insurance and need to have the surgery done bloodlessly also.
Answer Hello Jared
I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that at such a young age.
I have always heard that pins do need to be removed at some point so it is a good idea to follow up on that. Unfortunately I do not know of any surgeons in your area to recommend. I am really more knowledgeable of surgeons on the East Coast.
I would suggest that you look towards large teaching hospitals in your area. The teaching hospitals are ususally on the cutting edge of technology and have wonderful surgeons. Be sure that any surgeon you use has done work you need to have done on a REGULAR basis.
I wish I could be more help, but that's all I have to offer right now.
