Orthopedics/Hip pain

Hi, I am a 21 year old female. I have been having pain in my hips for a month or so and it only seems to be getting worse. It doesn't hurt when I am sitting but as soon as I stand its very painful. The pain slowly starts to lessen the longer I stand or walk. It also hurts to sleep on my sides. I have a severe nickel  allergy that causes Contact dermatitis on my hands and arms. My nickel allergy is affected by what I eat. I read that If I eat too much nickel it could cause joint pain. That is why I added that. I really don't know what is causing this and it really hurts. What could this be? What doctor should I see about it?

I am over weight. I weigh 232 and I'm 5'1"
But I am a member of weight watchers and I am losing weight.
I stand on my feet at my job - I work in food service.

Dear Courtney,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says...
Your best bet is an orthopedist or rheumatologist .When a joint is irritated, it takes a little while for it to stop hurting. Good movement, such as walking, thickens the joint fluid which lubricates the joint. When you stop moving the joint fluid begins to thin and losses its lubrication properties.
The weight and standing all day probably has an impact on your hip pain. Make sure you are wearing supportive comfortable shoes at work ( maybe orthotics ) & continue to lose weight. If it were the nickel-there might have been more pain in other joints also.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
