Question
Dear Sir,

Good day to you.

I would like to put my problem before you. I am 65 years old female. I have arthiritis problem since past 10 years. I am also suffering for tonsilitis since 1990. Also a patient of High Blood Pressure. Right now my problem is that my doctor said that there is gap in my knees and my bones have become like sawdust. Due to tonsilitis, it effect my eyes like it pains. Even my family doctor said that due to my throat problem, I have been suffered by arthirtis ... i dont know how but he said to me.

I have recently been advised by my orthopaedic doctor with below dose.

1- Dolonap EC 500 mg (Naproxen) 1 + 1 in a day.

2- Mayonal 50 mg (Eperisone HCL)1 + 1 + 1 in a day.

3- Drate 70 mg (Alendronate (Na)) once in a week.

4- Methycobal (Mecobalamin) 500 ug - 7 Injections (to be injected with a gap of day)

I use creams, herbal oils and spray for pain relief specially for my knees and feet, sometimes it relieves but mostly not.

I am also having ulcer problem since very long times, it arises with regular intervals of time but not permenantly. Kindly advise me what do i do strengthen my bones and get relief from the pain. Also advise me the best diet for me. I shall be grateful to you if you please suggest me the best from your vast experience.

Answer
Dear Fehmida,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says...
For your pain in your legs.  Gentle exercising, perhaps in a pool helps with all forms of arthritis. Ask your doctor about trying other anti-inflammatory medicines. Sometimes a medicine works for a while & then does not work as well. You can always stop for a while and then go back after a few months. Sometimes a rheumatologist- may have different arthritis medicine to try.
Try be be at the lowest healthy weight you can be-which will put less stress on the knees.
There is something called an anti-inflammatory diet-which contains less food that is less likely to produce irritation. For example-dark cherries may help with arthritis.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
