Question
I would like to know about the translation of "Hope is when we feel the pain that makes us try again" (from the Chico Science song. It is for a tattoo, which I hope does not discourage you from helping me. Since this will be on me forever, accuracy is very important so please include all of the punctuation and accent marks.  thank you very much in advance!!

Answer
Hi, Thomas

Well, I don't have any tattoo, but your choice would not discourage me helping you! :-)

Chico Science's phrase is

"A esperança é quando a dor presente nos faz tentar outra vez".

I think there will be no loss in the mail, but just in case: the only foreign signs to you are the cedilla under "c" in esperança and the accute on "e". If you want to produce a JPG picture of the phrase and send it to me to check (before giving it to the tattoer, of course ;-), feel free: sudastelaro@gmail.com

Regards,
=james=
