Question
I have been trying to beat Z v 7random comps for a week now.  Tried all sorts of strategies - blocking, lurker mass, lurker mass and swarm, hydra and/or lurker drops as well as guards.  In my best games, I can take out 1 computer and divert some of the forces away from my base.  But then, the enemy always comes back and dwindles me to nothing.  I have beaten them with T and P with much less of a problem.  Is this a foolish endeavor because I feel like it's too hard?

Answer
Hi Zebzor,

You are right to say that it is hardest to beat 7 computers using zerg.
I have managed to win it 1 way though... you might want to try it..

Build an early hatcher at the bottleneck of BGH (outside your expansion)..you need to secure the expansion for additional minerals.
Positioning of the Hatcery is important as you want it to block as much of the bottleneck as possible...

Secondly, put up sunken colonies behind the hatchery...
Next up rush for mutalisks. Amass tons of them... You will also need to go for lurkers along the way...

Defense goes like this...

Hatcerhy block, Amass sunken colonies, Rush to mutalisks, Also get a few lurkers.

You don't need very many lurkers... about 6 of them is enough. Place them in front of your sunken colonies to take out stimpacked marines.

Use mutalisks to rush in to take out tanks... If the tanks are accompanied by marines, the mutalisks will draw fire of the marines...thereafter lure them to death in your sunken/lurker mass.

You might have dead lurkers along the way, so remember to replace them...
You might have problem moving lurkers to front of your sunken colonies... You might want to upgrade overlord transport for this.

Win the game by amassing tons of mutalisks. (Remember to upgrade their attack and armour). Use devourers against BAttlecruisers and Carriers. Bring in 2-3 queens to ensnare as well...

If there are too many turrets, bring in a few guardians..but don't make too many of them, as the enemy is bound to have air forces. By end game, always bring in a few overlords for detection against wratihs.

Good luck... It's possible =D
