Question Hi,
I recently got a new computer and installed aoe3 onto it. Next I transferred my user data from my old computer to this new one. I checked all the files and the user data folders on both computers look identical. It carried over my saved games just fine, yet whenever I finish a game, it asks me to make a home city. When I try to remake my home city, it states I can't because it already exists. So why do the saves carry over but not the home city?
Answer In the My Documents folder under My Games, there should be a folder titled "Age of Empires III". You want to copy that folder over. What I have done in the past is to start a game and create a bogus home city. This will force the game to create the folder new. After that happens, copy the folder over. At the prompt to overwrite/merge existing info, select yes to all. All of your home city and saves should be loaded onto your new computer.
