Question
Managed to find a great video of this:

GGplay vs Bisu[Shield] [28 Sep, 2007] EVER OSL 2007

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0qhzrh0pAM

What should GGplay have done!?!?
This pains me to watch

guesses:

- mass scourge - but scourge unassisted risky
- some spores - but hurts economy and offense - immobile

additional question:

does swarm/ultra beat archons?
swarm affect archon?

Thanks,
Jeff

Answer
Hi Jeff,

With regard to the video. I will say an all out mass zergling instead of the gas would have won the game early on. With the toss going fast tech, expansion. Early game play might have dominated.

I found 4 hatcheries early on a little too many for my liking though. That's perhaps where he lost out. I guess the zerg player was trying to capacitate on the toss playing defensive(expanding) and mass hatcheries/expansions.
Thus giving the zerg a losing edge in terms of the tech race. Going lurkers wasn't exactly what i thought will be good against a toss player. Definately good against terran. With cannons at the toss expansion, the lurkers can't really attack. And they don't make very good defenders against a toss going cosairs.

Try this...

(1) Build 1 spore colony at each expansion. Won't cost much, and it keeps your overlords alive. Limits the number of areas revears can drop as well. Not mentioning DTs.

(2) Get up hydralisks. Upgrade overlord speed

(3) Get queen with ensnare. Planting bugs on shuttles work gorgeously. Ensnaring shuttles kill them easily. Not mentioning cosairs. Ensnare reveal DTs as well. =D

----------------------------
Swarm affects archons as they are ranged. (there was a patch that didn't work though, needa check) Swarm/ultra owns archons basically. Archons are only good against groups like zerglings. Ultra does well against toss.

Spores work well, if you didn't see the cosairs coming. 1-2 spores are more than enough. Just have enough to cover your base. If placed well, it defends well against shuttles as well. Forces revears to crawl in, which make them easy to pick off using hydralisks..etc.
