Experience Played since Starcraft Original. Seasoned player. Seen all sorts of tactics played and counters. I've played with people at the top level and also entered different competitions, winning prizes as well. My speciality is more in the 1vs1 area, though I've participated in 2v2 and also 3v3 competitions before. I have also officiated the 1st World Cyber Games Competition (Singapore) in 2001.
Question I was Zerg against my opponent using Protos Archon's. Lots of Archon's. How does the Zerg defend against them or at least what is the cheapest defence?
Answer It takes lots of gas to make tons of Archons.
Nevertheless, if he doesn't have observers, a few lurkers will make short of those archons.
Generally archons only work well against mutalisks and zerglings. Use hydralisks and target archons 1 by 1. It should take them out quick. Ensnare them with a queen if you find it really difficult.
If it's late game and there are simply too many of them. Use some ultralisks to tank, and use hydralisks to shoot them from behind the ultralisks. Generally upgraded hydralisks kill them very well. Especially if you have alot of hydralisks, the archons can't really even get close to your units.
