Question
hi
i have a intel 915 motherboard with 1GB RAM and a segate 80GB sata HDD.

the problem is sometime my boots normally. some time it doesn't boot and beep continuously and it gives various error messages.the error messages are

BOOT DEVICE FAILURE. INSERT BOOT DEVICE AND PRESS ENTER..

some msg and press alt+ctrl+delete to restart
sorry i forgot some messages.

sometime what happens my system is running fine and in between it starts beeping and the system gets hang.when it becomes normal it gives very low performence u can't even listen a song. at that time u reset the system it will not boot and will start beeping and display error message.


please try to solve this problem.what should be the problem with the HDD or any other device.
i have checked for power,serial cables and other cables for loose connections. i have replaced serial cable and checked.

plz try to solve this problem.

I'll try, before you go out and buy a new hard drive try this:

Power down the computer, open the case.

The SATA cable is normally a flat red cable, disconnect it from the hard drive and the motherboard. If both ends are flat, swap the ends from the motherboard to the hard drive, if one of the ends has a 90* angle in it you may not be able to swap the ends of the cable, just plug them back in. This is called reseating.

Do the same for the power cable on the hard drive.

If the problem persists after reseating the cables then your hard drive is failing, if you get it back up and stable I suggest you back up your data before it fails completely.
