Subject: System Restore

Question
I have windows xp running on my toshiba laptop.  The System Restore function does not work.  No matter what system restore point i choose, i get an error message saying that system restore cannot restore to that date/point.  I have tried over 20 times and each time I get the same error.

Answer
If the restore cd can not do the restore the problem is either the restore data is invalid or your hard drive is having problems.

Is this system under waranty?
If it is then contact Toshiba tech support.

If it isn't then you could test the drive yourself. Before you begain your testing you should back up your data to an external device.

You can do a search for Hard Drive utilities, there are some out there that have a 30 day trial.

If the drive is ok after the tests, then I would suggest you reload the OS and restore your data.
If it is bad then you should consider replacement.
