Subject: Can't open a file

Question
I got a new laptop a few months ago, which runs vista. I transferred my necessary files from my desktop, which runs xp, to the laptop. Shortly after, my desktop died. Everything seems to work fine except for one essential file. When I try to open, i get a message that says that access is denied. I encryted the file on the old computer, and I've searched all the help topics on the new computer and I can't find any info that will allow me to open the file. i really need to open this file. Is there anything I can do?

Answer
Unless you can get the desktop working again and decrypt the file then it is worthless.

The reason I say this is that the encription algorithum is on the desktop. Vista can't open the file because it uses a different algorithum to encrypt/decrypt files.
