but is able to read cds easily...and is able to write them as well....
i have tried playing those dvds on my frnds pcs and they work perfectly....
on my pc it gives a it shows 0 bytes when i click on the drive..
so can u please suggest me what to do????????
should i update firmware????????if yes how???????

Answer
First what software are you using for writing to the DVD, this will determine the drivers that are installed for the drive.

I suggest you check the Sony web site for what writing software program is compatible with their drive.

Check the Sony Web about upgrading the firmware, there may or may not be a upgrade.

Once you find the correct drivers, uninstall the DVD drivers, then restart your computer, you should get the 'New Hardware found' wizard, when it comes to the page for the drivers don't let it search for drivers, point the program to the new drivers you have downloaded.

Other than that you could do a search on your hardware and see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem and what they did if anything to resolve it.
