Subject: DDR1 Ram Support.

Question
I have a Intel 845 Motherboard and RAM installed on it is DDR1 266Mhz. Can I Install 1GB DDR1 RAM (400Mhz) Pl. suggest what is the best option for me.

Answer
Hi Ravi,

You CAN mix DDR1 boards of different speeds on the same motherboard in most cases.  However, the overall speed will default to the slowest RAM board.

If you are doing a total changeout, your mosterboard FSB (front side bus) speed has to be (in your case) at least 400 MHz (which I am sure it is) to totally support the upgrade.
