Question
QUESTION: hello sir,i have a pentium III 300HZ.when i start my computer ,it shows CHECKING NVRAM and remains idle .it does not boot.
Any help
Thanks

ANSWER: This could be a couple of things.
First you can try to reset the CMOS by removing the coin sized battery on the motherboard for approx. 1 minute.
If this does not work I would think there is probably something wrong with the RAM.

Let me know if I can help further.

QUESTION: hello sir ,i reset the CMOS by removing the battery on the motherboard as said but it does the same.
Any other hits.
Thanks

ANSWER: You probably have a bad stick of RAM. If you have two sticks you could remove one and see if it boots to rule out which stick is bad.

QUESTION: Hello sir,i have 3 sticks of RAM.I have interchange one by one but it still read as CHECKING NVRAM.The 3 sticks of RAM are good but it still fails to boot.
Thanks

Answer
Have you changed the CMOS battery? You may need a new one. For some reason it is not holding memory information. This is one possibility. Check out this entire thread. It is talking about the problem you are having: http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/473723-solved-still-checking-nvram.html

Let me know if it tells you anything.
