QuestionQUESTION: Hi, I backed up most of my computer files to an ext. usb drive. Now I need to retrieve that info. and transfer to my computer, however I have been confronted with microsoft unable to open file. Do you know which software is available to open this file, is there a free trial version since most likely I will use once. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. By the way I have never done this transfer of data from usb drive to pc. Thanks.
ANSWER: Luis,
How did you transfer the data to the USB drive and how did you transfer them back to the PC? Did you just drag and drop or "copy to", how?
Here is what I found on the .sv2i file:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/powerquest.nsf/5eca4fdb4ac8237588256e97004a
It seems it is a system restore file.
Let me know more and we'll try and get this fixed.

QUESTION: Hi Keith; I'm getting back to you to provide you with some added info. that I obtain today from Symantec. I just found out that the file choosen to run my back up was drive D according to Norton this is a recovery partition and I will not be able to see it as is not visible in D drive. So as you see I will have to use a different way of getting back those erased files. Can you help me with that. If files recovered how can open them on my pc. Thanks again.
AnswerThe only way I know of recovering the data is by putting the USB drive in your computer. See if you can see it in My Computer, right-click, and click Explore. If you can see the files on the USB drive you ought to be able to drag and drop them onto the hard drive of your computer.
