Question i have a hp pavilion a6109n desktop pc
i have already upgraded my RAM (2gb to 4gb), Hard drive (320gb to 480gb), by power supply (450w to 600w). and now i want to upgrade my cpu since it is falling behind
the processor i have right now is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00Ghz with AM2 socket
the mother board I have is the Asus M2N68-LA
if I buy this AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Processor ADV6000IAA5DO - 3.10GHz, 1MB Cache, 2000MHz FSB, Brisbane, Dual-Core, OEM. Socket AM2, Processor
should everything cometogether okay and be compatable??
Answer Hi Andrei,
This is a quote from the specs on your motherboard from HP: " •Supports the following processors: "◦Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 5600+ (up to 89 watt) ". The processor you are looking at is faster than that.
Motherboard processor support is, in part, a function of your BIOS. It is possible that an updated BIOS may support the 6000 model - but I am just guessing.
If I were you, I would either stick with the processor you have (which is really good) or order the 5600. You would never be able to tell the performance difference between a 5600 and a 6000.
