Opened motherboard to clean out, then noticed several wires not attached after computer has completely stopped working ... So wondering where these particular wires hook up at and would they be the cause of the computer to stop responding

Answer
Hi Jessica,

It looks like the power supply has more power available than what the motherboard needs, so Gateway might have heft the connector unplugged. When the manufacturers do so, they usually put a cap in the connector and tie it to a cable bundle.
Anyway this link http://www.smps.us/20-to-24pin-atx.html
may be of help if you need further information.

Also check at Gateway's support website for your particular model. They usually have maintenance manuals for each model explaining cable connections among other things.
