Subject: HP Laptop Power Problem
Question I have an intermittent problem with my HP dv4000 laptop. It will "freeze" at many different places during bootup. It might occur before the HP logo flashes or at any other point during Windos load (or even after the system comes up. This occurs whether on battery or AC. So far, I have changed the system board (including cpu), the HDD, and have connected an external monotor. Problem still occurs. I have taken apart and reassembled it several times. All connections appear good. I will next try the Led panel board. BTW, to get it going all I have to do is just tilt it slightly, in no particular direction. If I just let it sit, it never resumes processing. Could it be the Led Panel Board?s7rx (This is getting expensive)... Thanks.
Answer If the system hangs at any time, boot or other wise then you move the laptop it will resume sounds like a loose connection or something not seated correctly.
I would hazard a guess that the memory module slot retainers need to be tweaked to put more pressure on the module to keep it tight.
Try that before doning any thing else. The only other thing that I can think of is a loose connection between the mother board and a device like the hard drive or cd.
