Question I just got my PC repaired and the technician said that the reason that it merely beeps when powered up before was that the main memory got obliterated. He said that he got rid of it thus, basically reducing the computer's speed. Furthermore, the problem on files and settings lost after rebooting was resolved, as he said, by simply creating a new administrator account for the previous one was corrupted.
Now that makes me think, was it worth having a technician after all? I mean, could I have simply done it myself by removing that one RAM chip and, of course, making a new admin account as what he stated?
Answer Finding the memory module bad is normal everyday trouble shooting.
The Adminisrtrator's account being corrupt make's me wonder. I have never deleted the Administrators account so I can't say if it can be done or not. I have how ever removed user accounts and rebuilt the profile because the user was having problems when logged on.
I am suprised that he didn't offer to replace the bad memory module, your system will run faster if you do replace it.
