Subject: Printer No Longer Shared

Question
We have a small office with four computers and one printer.  We networked the computers and were able to print to the printer from any computer.  Now, for some reason, only the main computer that is connected to the printer can print to it.  I tried reinstalling the driver on the main computer, that didn't work.  I tried adding another printer from the non-host machines and that didn't work.  When I tried to browse to the printer, I got an error message that reads:
Could not connect to the printer. You either entered a printer name that was incorrect or the specified printer is no longer connected to the server. Click Help for more information.
From the main computer, I can see the other computers and files but not the printer. All computers can connect to the internet.
All computers are on Windows 2000 O/S.
It is an HP LaserJet 2100 printer.  Also, all of the computers have the printing properties set to print to the following ports:  LPT1, Printer Port, HPLaserJ.
Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Landon,

Probably someone stopped the sharing or changed the shared name of the printer.
Check the printer is still shared in the main computer, and check the shared name (HPLaserJ) is the same in all computers.
If it doesn't work, delete the printer in all computers and install it again.

Ricardo
