Hi Ric,

I have a spare power supply. Is it possible to check it without attaching it to the computer? I'm worried coz it might damage the computer in case the power supply is defective. Thanks!
Answer -
Hi Fren

Yes, you can test the PS without the MB. Few months ago I saw an ATX-PS test set sold in BestBuy and Curcuit City. It's basically a set of wires and resistors that will load the power supply to test if it is able to deliver the required power at the different voltages.
As all PS are switching mode, you must connect them to a load, otherwise it will not start.

Hi Ric,

Do you have an idea on how to make a load and how to connect it to the psu power connector? Thanks

Answer
Hi Fren,

I strongly suggest you get the harness. While it is simple to just hookup a resistor to each output, those things need to be high power rated. They will get really HOT (and I mean HOT!). If you have a bad connection, or the wrong rating on the resistor, the thing may catch fire. The ones I saw were relatively cheap ($20, but specific for Antec PS). Believe the best advise can give you is get one of them, rather specific for your PS.

Ricardo
