AboutChristy Morgan Expertise I can answer questions about current medical and non medical treatments for PCOS. I can also explain what you might expect when you see a Reproductive Endocrinologist and advise on what questions you might ask your Dr. I cannot diagnose or suggest specific treatments for you, I am not a Dr.
Experience I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1997 and have heavily researched treatment options and am currently using an experimental treatment thru my endocrinologists office.
Education/Credentials personal experience and research only
Question I am 33 years old and was diagnosed with pcos at age 13. I had to take birth control pills to get my first period at age 16. When I am on no birth control, I have no period. I have not had a period for about 5 years despite several attempts by my gyn to get it started with progesterone in oil and rounds of estrogen an progesterone pills. The hair growth is an embarassing nuisance. I just don't know what to do. Can anyone suggest some resources that would help me to better understand what pcos is all about? Any suggestions as to why my periods will not start again? Do I even have hope in getting pregnant?
Answer I highly recommend seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist and soon- especially since you are interested in becoming pregnant. An RE specializes in fertility problems and understands the hormonal imbalances that cause PCOS better than a GYN. I hope this helps.
