Question Hello, my daughter is 22. She had a horrible pain 10-15 minutes after intercourse twice last year. We went to gynecologist, but she didn't find anything. A few months ago she took a morning pill once after the condom was broken. But last month she is having her period three times. The first one lasted 10 days and was very heavy, the second one in two weeks was for 3 days and not heavy. She took a pregnancy test and she is not pregnant. And now in another two weeks she is having another period and she is feeling lightheaded and extremely tired. We called the doctor, but she was not concerned and told us to come in for the check-up in a month. Does it sound like PCOS? Thanks.
Answer Dear Alex,
Please keep in mind I am not a medical professional and am giving my opinion rather than medical advice.
I am not an expert on the morning after pill, but it is my understanding that taking it can cause a couple irregular menstrual cycles. If she had problems with her menstrual cycles BEFORE she took the morning after pill, then I would make sure I had the GYN investigate a little further. If this happened only AFTER she took the morning after pill, I wouldn't be overly concerned unless the irregular periods continued. The BEST person to ask about this is the GYN at her next appointment. Hope this helps some.
