PHP5 - Directory cannot e read

Expert: Marty Landman - 6/2/2007

Question
Hi, I bought a fully automated ebook store package from the ebay website. I paid the seller $48.00 incl. installation. He could not resolve a problem and blame it on the hosting company and the .info domain. I get the following at the top of the website when opened:

The downloadable products directory cannot be read: /home/ebookfac/public_html/download/. Please check that the entries in configure.php are correct.

Please have a look at www.ebookfactory.info - is there a way that you can correct this. Thank you in advance!

Answer
Hi Phil,

I did a google search on the phrase

"The downloadable products directory cannot be read:"

and got four hits. The first three show the identical symptom to you, but the last one,

http://www.ebook-corner-shop.co.uk/index.php?cPath=3

does not. It may be then that this site also had the problem, and then fixed it.

As I see it, you now have three alternatives available to you:

1) contact the webmaster of that last site and see if they did fix this problem and can tell you how they did it

2) find a support bbs on the web for your product and search for or post this problem; maybe someone there can help

3) hire a pro - for myself this looks like a one hour job

If you want to contact me privately my website's contact page is at

http://face2interface.com/Contact/Email_Us.shtml

In any case please let me know how things turn out. Glad your site is otherwise looking good.

Marty
