Question
Hi Mick,
During the next 2 years me and my wife will be doing a round the world retirement trip. We would like to spend 3 to 5 days on Fiji as part of our holiday. We're looking for a nice reasonably priced Hotel or resort not too far from the airport. I want her to enjoy the scenery and the magic of the surroundings. We're both in good health and enjoy snorkelling which we would like to include. Also which is the best time of the year to visit?

Answer
The only hotel with a beach near town is the Royal Sheraton Denaru.  The beach is OK but snorkeling is questionable although there is no problem getting a day trip out to a nice island.  If you want inexpensive and very close to the airport, Toka Toka is quite nice, has a great swimming pool and very nice grounds.  Anytime will work but expect crowds during the US winters and very high humidity in the summer.
