Question
Im planning on including fiji as part of my round the world trip. I will be visiting for approx 7 days in late november, after new zealand and before usa. What is the prices like there, does the british pound stretch very far? what part of fiji should we visit for great beaches and entertainment, but that can accomodate a tight budget?
thanks

Answer
Dear Mr Turner

Bula!

Late November is our summer and ideal for visits to the island.

As you only have 7 days I would recommend that you base yourself at Nadi and do day trips out to the islands overnighting if you wish.

You can take diving, snorkelling or island hopping excursions from Nadi.

I would suggest you stay at Nadi Homestay Bed and Breakfast -  you can email them on nadihomestaybb@yahoo.com for accomodation information.  A lot of guests wanting comfort on a tight budget use this property as a base to explore the Western side of Fiji which is where the islands and good weather is.

The British pound is very strong and you will find prices quite reasonable except in the hotels which are geared for tourists and quite expensive - even with the British pound!

Nadi itself has good restaurants and bars as well as 5 star hotels and nightclubs.

Hope this helps.
