Experience I am a Maiti Specialist (Fiji) and visit the South Pacific Islands at least once a year so my clients and those asking questions get the best first hand information.
As I always have wanted to visit The Society Islands I was thrilled to see Renaissance Cruises offering deep discounts on cruise packages at various times last year and I thought of going this year. Alas, I read recently that they had gone out of business but later saw an ad for one of their cruises! What gives? Does anyone else cruise The Societys? When would the "off season" be when I'd be most likely to find a bargain? Thanks a lot. Bob
Answer Bob:
It just dawned on me that I left out one of the premier operators and because I will be sailing with them on February 1, could not let my omission pass. Cruise west who started with small ship sailing in Alaska has just entered the market. They sail the Oceanius which is a 112 passenger small ship. There are several itineraries including Tahiti, the Cooks and Fiji. They are not budget but provide an excellent product with a focus on the destination and ecology rather than just being entertained. If you are interested, you could email me for a copy of my trip report some time in late Feb. I am a South Pacific expert so if you need someone to help with any bookings, let me know.
