As I learned each technique, I realized the benefits and the shortcomings of each one. As I continued to search, study, learn, and incorporate these into my own growth I became a more balanced, happy, satisfied person, for myself.
As I become more satisfied with myself, I attracted more balanced, happy, satisfied people into my own life.
I realized that these techniques combined together, can be used by ANYONE. Therefore. I became a Spiritual Coach to be able to share this with anyone who wanted to - Be ALL that they ALREADY Are.

You are here: Experts > Religion/Spirituality > Pagan/Wiccan Religion > Pagan/Wiccan Religion > Birds singing at night
Expert: Rev. Alfred Willowhawk, BMsc, CTPR, CTM, RMT, Shamanic Practitioner, Metaphysician - 10/27/2009
Question Most recently I have noticed birds singing and chirping during the dark of night long after dark and long before dawn. They are making the very same sounds as they do at the break of dawn, very happy and cheerful sounds. One of my Totems is the Raven but none of the birds sound like a Raven. However, just before this started to happen one day last week, I came upon a Raven in a very active public parking lot and he was chattering very pleasant sounds just a few feet above me in a tree. He started as I came near and ended after I was a good distance away from him. Today, I was working on a roof top, single story home, and a flock of Ravens flew directly over and just several feet above my head while squawking. I felt very good and uplifted. This was out of the ordinary in that there was the encounter with the first Raven, immediately followed by the birds chirping and singing in the night, and then the flock of Ravens today so close to me as they flew over. What might this mean?
Answer Hello,
Thank you for choosing me to answer this question. I too have Raven as one of my guides, or totems. Within the British Traditions, the Raven is particularly talkative. Each series of Kaws, indicates something else. As you were "uplifted" by the flock, I would say that they were sending you the Goddess blessing of a soon to be visit. Considering that Samhain is so close, and the veil is very thin, I would look for a new guide, or ancestor to speak with you soon.
The First Raven, was indeed a harbinger of good friend coming, whether in the physical or at Samhain, that we can only wait to see.
The Birds at night were probably accompanying a manifestation of the Goddess that was watching you, or waiting to make contact with you. The Rhiannon, and the heroine Branwen, sometimes use birds to draw attention to themselves for us.
As Samhain is coming, I would suggest that you add a thanks to the raven and see if the goddess comes to you as well as ancestors. The particular Goddess attached to Ravens is the Morrigan. NOW, the Irish call her a "battlefield" goddess, and attribute some rather negative thing to her. HOWEVER, the Welsh have a different interpretation. The Morrigan is one of the aspects of the three sisters, (Wicca says Triple Goddess), she IS a battlefield goddess HOWEVER, she guides the dead of BOTH sides to the Otherworld, (the Mist, or Tir na Nog), where they can decide whether or not they are returning to this plane or going on to the "Summerlands".
The Raven, he has two, are perched on her shoulder and are released when asked as part of the battle frenzy that was prevelant in WELSH and other Celtic warriors.
In general, I sense, some surprises ahead for you, walk carefully with your eyes open.
Bright Blessing,
Alfred Willowhawk
