AboutJason Expertise I can answer general questions about most forms of modern Paganism, including, but not limited to Wicca, Asatru, Druidism, various African based paths, and eclectic general Neopaganism. I can also help a person to construct simple spells for various purposes, provided that they are ethical. I may be able to offer some advice on how to find your own niche in Neo-paganism. I look forward to your email.
Experience I grew up in a metaphysical household. Also I have been studying extensively Neo-paganism for about 10 years now.

Question Dear Jason, I am Portuguese, Castilian Spanish, Mayan, Cherokee, German Jew and British (was told that I have gypsy blood in me, hmm). I have been interested in the Wiccan religion for years but don't really know much about it. I have experienced many things in life that have led me to believe in more than meets the eye. I am an animal lover (dogs, cats, horses, chickens, birds, etc. . .) I have four children, two that are adopted, one grown daughter (used to see tiny lights that would rise off of her body when she was a tiny baby, saw it twice - not sure what it meant) and three still at home (two boys one girl). I have one grandchild and one on the way. I was invited to a Wiccan ceremony (Winter Solstice) and my baby was blessed by my Wiccan friends as I walked throught the Arbor. What a lovely experience that was for me.
The spirits of the four corners were called upon. I was blessed with sage and my baby was blessed, too. That was twelve years ago, maybe thirteen. I have a natural affinity to beliefs that hold animals in high regard and have always had a problem with the Christians saying animals don't have souls (bologne). I find it interesting that Wiccans hold some of the same beliefs as Native Americans. It seems that I have held these beliefs since I was born (can't remember feeling any other way).
I am trying to learn all I can about the Wiccan religion.
I recently met a new nieghbor up North, where I bought a home in 2007. My new nieghbor is Wiccan, and has revived my old feelings of wanting to learn more.
I have always felt somewhat psychic and my older daughter has actually been used by the police to help solve a murder. Please help direct me to books, or online help that will answer my questions. Sincerely, Laura
Answer Dear Laura,
Hello and thank you for contacting me. I can see that you have quite the mixture in your ancestry. I can relate I am Italian, Irish ,Cape Verdian, and a little bit of French and Spanish. Anyway, the ceremony that you went to sounds lovely. Much of the time a Wiccan baby blessing is called a Wiccaning. I could see how that could lead to your rekindling interest in Wicca. Well the best place to start in my opinion is to familiarize yourself with it as much as possible to really make sure that it is the path that you want to follow. Here are some resources:
I also recommend the books Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin and Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham. Of course there are many more resources, but I think that this is a good start. If you decide to get involved in a group and meet more witches then I would suggest either talking to your neighbor, or doing a search on witchvox.com. Best of luck to you on your spiritual journey.
