AboutJason Expertise I can answer general questions about most forms of modern Paganism, including, but not limited to Wicca, Asatru, Druidism, various African based paths, and eclectic general Neopaganism. I can also help a person to construct simple spells for various purposes, provided that they are ethical. I may be able to offer some advice on how to find your own niche in Neo-paganism. I look forward to your email.
Experience I grew up in a metaphysical household. Also I have been studying extensively Neo-paganism for about 10 years now.

Question why do we use the atiem(knife) like the satanics??
and when we perform rituals
if the power is from within then why do i have to say "by the name of ..." ?
when i want something ... ? why couldnt all the spells be by my name only
me cuz its from me and the "natural" world arount me.. not by a higher
power?
Answer Dear Sarah,
Hello and thank you for e-mailing me. For your first question the athame is used to direct energy in a ritual, particularly to cast a circle. I know that there are many bad witch movies that show many victims being stabbed or something, but the athame, traditionally, is never used to cut anything, not even plants or food. It is not an inherently Satanic tool. As for your second question, it is true that witches call upon their own energy within but most witches will also call upon other forces such as Gods, spirits or the elements in order to add strength and power to a spell or to just connect with them. Not all of a witches rituals are for when you want something, in fact I would say that most aren't. Most are used to connect with the cycles of nature and/or their chosen spirits. You don't really have to call upon anything if you do not feel comfortable. It's O.K. to take your time and study. Here is a helpful website:
